Rockhopper Cottage is a beautiful first floor 2-bedroom maisonette holiday cottage on the charming Mount Pleasant Road in Brixham, Devon. You'll find it a real home from home, located just five minutes' walk from the centre of the town and its bristling working harbour.  The road is directly above the main shopping streets of Bolton Street and Fore Street.  Just 50 metres from the front door, you can enjoy stunning views across this lovely and busy fishing port. The many lanes and steps leading down to the harbour and Fore Street offer a fun and varied way to access the town centre. On the way back home, the hills are steep to climb, but the views are worth it!

Brixham is teeming with lovely bars, cafés, restaurants and pubs - it's a great, fun place to go out! There's a stoney beach in Brixham itself, with other lovely coves within walking distance. The SW coastal path is stunning, and beautiful Berry Head and St Mary's Bay are walkable within an hour.  You may even see Brixham's seals and dolphins! Paignton and Torquay, Dartmouth and Kingswear, Totnes and Newton Abbot are all a short drive away. The town hosts some famous events such as the Pirate Festival and Seafood Feast.

We offer very comfortable and well-appointed accommodation, with all the facilities and features you need.  The cottage is furnished and fitted to an extremely high standard, and we know you'll fall in love with it!

Real comfort and convenience on a quiet and charming residential street

Rockhopper is a two-bedroom, two-storey maisonette. It's located on the first floor, accessed via a dozen stone steps from the pavement of Mount Pleasant Road. Although we have no sea view from the house, you can enjoy stunning views down to the town and harbour from the street, less than a minute's walk from the front door. The houses in this corner of Brixham were built in the heart of a quarry, which still forms a beautiful and dramatic backdrop to our garden. Likewise our stairwell is made from beautiful quarry stone. You really do have the feeling that Rockhopper was carved out of rock!

SITTING ROOM

This is a lovely, comfortable space with two sofas and a view onto our charming street.  As the house is west-facing, this front room gets plenty of light in the afternoon and evenings.

The room also comprises:

  • Real wood-burning stove and supply of logs, coal and kindling

  • Brand new 32" smart TV with sound bar (bought Jan 2022) - Free Netflix, BBC/ITV catch-up etc

  • DVD player and selection of DVDs

  • Wi-fi router for high-speed broadband

  • Two large sofas and comfy pouffé

  • Large coffee table

  • Angle-poise and table lamps

  • Luxury carpet

  • CO monitor

DINING ROOM / RECEPTION ROOM

The front door opens into a small entrance lobby and an internal door opens into a welcoming dining room.

There's a large dining table with four chairs, and two spare chairs under the stairs. 

The room also comprises:

  • Real, open fire

  • Mini record player and small vinyl collection - please feel welcome to enjoy them or bring your own!

  • Bluetooth speaker

  • Under stair storage (iron and board, vacuum cleaner, drying rack, basic tools, etc)

  • Dehumidifier

  • Central heating remote control and CO monitor

  • A few table-top and board games for the occasional rainy day, such as mini table tennis and ten pin bowling!

FITTED KITCHEN

Our kitchen is very well equipped, and looks out on to our garden, decking and the dramatic quarry cliff face. Its appliances are of a very high standard:

  • Smeg cooker (gas hob and electric oven)

  • Hotpoint washing machine

  • Fitted fridge/freezer

  • Coffee machine, kettle and toaster

  • Microwave oven

  • Lots of cupboard space, with plentiful supply of cookware, plates, cutlery, utensils and cleaning products

  • High-quality tiled floor

  • A free supply of cooking condiments

We don't have a dishwasher, but the sink works fine!

This lovely, large bedroom will guarantee you a lovely night's sleep!

The room also comprises:

REAR, GARDEN & DECKING

The outside area is a work in progress, and on target to be completed by summer 2023...  It does offer:

  • A seating area on the decking outside the back door, with security light

  • Steps down to the narrow 60-foot+ garden

  • Table and chairs on the raised decking at the end of the garden. Nice evening sun in summer, and we're replacing the poorly furniture in the autumn.

  • Lovely blue cladding added to the rear of the house in autumn 2022 - making the cottage even cosier!

FRONTAGE & ACCESS

The house is an attractive three-storey stone property. Rockhopper's front door is accessed by a dozen stone steps. There is a key safe with combination lock by the door. 

  • Street parking is available free-of-charge, but this can become limited during the evening, and particularly at peak holiday season. It's usually easy to park further up or down our street.
